""An article was published claiming that a resident of Daliyat al-Karmel is suspected of incitement to terrorism, in support of Iran in its war against Israel. So calm down. He is not a Druze, not a son of the town and has no connection to the place whatsoever." Rafiq Halabi, mayor of the Druze town of Daliyat al-Karmel, near Haifa, defames Majd Asadi, a young Palestinian activist living in the town, who was abducted by the Israeli police after posting on Facebook a political analysis of Khamenei's murder. Halabi revealed Majd's family name, "clarified" that he is not a part of the Druze community and the town, and promised he will be driven-out from Daliya. He also used the opportunity to emphasize the "importance" of not renting houses in Daliya to outsiders (i.e. non-Druze) without a thorough background check. While her son was being held by Ben Gvir's sadistic goons, Majd's mother received a notification that her family needs to leave town. In response, several prominent 48 Palestinian figures, including Druze, came out publicly in defense of Majd, calling out Halabi's shameful video, expressing solidarity with Majd and rejecting sectarianism. Following the backlash, Halabi deleted his inciting video from his personal Facebook page, but it was already circulated widely, primarily by local Druze-led news outlet Hadshot HaCarmel VeHaTzafon ("Carmel and North News"). 79-year-old Rafiq Halabi is a well-known figure in "Israel". He worked for 40 years at the now-defunct Israel Broadcasting Authority (replaced by Kan), first as a journalist and later in several senior roles. In 2007, Halabi was convicted in the State Employees Disciplinary Tribunal of inappropriate behavior towards a state employee and sexual harassment. He serves as the mayor of Daliyat al-Carmel since 2013. Majd Asadi was released yesterday afternoon. Read more in the quoted tweet." - Source
